The Maya Civilization~

Most Ancient Mesoamerican civilizations built pyramid-shaped structures. Mesoamerican Pyramids served many functions from - from astronomical observatories to places of ritual worship and sacrifice, and perhaps something linked to extraterrestrials.

Non-ecological theories of Maya decline are divided into several subcategories, such as overpopulation, foreign invasion, peasant revolt, and the collapse of key trade routes. Ecological hypotheses include environmental disaster, epidemic disease, and climate change.

I believe it's a great disservice and inaccuracy to the 6 million people who still live in Gutemala, Mexico, and Belize to say that the Maya civilization has disappeared. I believe that the Maya people have continued to hold on to their unique lifestyle throughout hundred of years.
